Description

In the north of the county, you will find numerous coastal towns and quaint fishing villages such as the historic harbour town of Clovelly. With a wealth of towns and villages to explore as well as stunning coastline and countryside you'll want to make sure you see as much as possible when you visit South Devon. Exmouth - A port and seaside resort with a population of around 33,000, Exmouth is situated at the mouth of the River Exe about 9 miles south of Exeter.

Seaton - Clearly shown on this Devon map, Seaton is situated near to the mouth of the River Axe, and was settled as long ago as the Iron Age, 4,000 years before the Romans arrived. South Devon is also home to the prevalent fishing town of Brixham, as well as the popular towns of Thurlestone, Teignmouth, Sidmouth and Dawlish. Public Health, Social Care and local work focused on the wider determinants of health such as housing, planning and economic development are the domain of local authorities. Plymouth is one of the major cities in South Devon, with the Hoe and Barbican being popular areas here, and is still a major port for the United Kingdom.During the Saxon heptarchy, it belonged to the kingdom of the West Saxons; it is now in the province of Canterbury, diocese of Exeter, and is included in the Western circuit. It forms part of an atlas that belonged to William Cecil Lord Burghley, Secretary of State to Elizabeth I. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

For detailed maps of the key towns and areas of the region have a look at our Town Map page where you will find all of our individual town maps.Newton Abbot - Famous for its racecourse, Newton Abbot has a population of over 20,000 and is located beside the River Teign, it was settled long before the Romans arrived in Britain, but grew rapidly after the arrival of the railway in 1846. Within NEW Devon CCG the area is split into three locality areas: Northern, Eastern and Western (NEW).
