Description

Look up the Greek or Hebrew meanings of words to bring extra clarity, meaning, and understanding. The words in the original language have cultural meanings we don’t find in the translations. My go to for this is the Blue Letter Bible.

Verse mapping is great for daily study and homeschoolers to do a deep-dive study by verse with your kids. The only pressure comes from what you put on yourself. God delights in any time you spend with Him. He has a lifetime of love, care, comfort, and peace to give you, and it’s found in studying His Word. Study the Word of God Bible Verse Five minutes later, what you read remains a distant memory. I have been there and am sure I am not alone.

Hopefully this may help you know how to marinate in scripture as well, especially for those times you need the extra support. As you write the verse think about which words stand out to you. Underline the important words or words you don’t know the meaning of. Know Who, What, When, Where, and Why If you want to go further in your study of God’s word in an easy to follow directions and you don’t have to use a variety of color pens/pencils if you don’t want to. The Journal has everything laid out for your study needs. The girl’s bible is easy to read and the difference between the adult bible and the girl's bible is just at the introduction.

Plain and simple? Verse mapping is getting real about studying the Bible. All of it. It’s not just reading. It’s researching everything you can in a verse to learn more about Who God is, and how He wants to speak to you through His Word. In short? It’s serious study. Colored pens, pencils, and/or highlighters (I love this Bible journaling kit and Bible highlighters) Finally, how can you apply what the passage says to your life? Some questions I like to ask as I wind down my time with God are: Research the verse you chose- who wrote it? Who was he speaking to? What was its intended purpose? (Usually found at the beginning of the book you are reading.) ● Context is Important–

Example Bible Verse Mapping Study

Have you heard of verse mapping? You may know it by another name- Bible mapping, or Bible verse mapping- but it is all the same idea. It is another tool to study the Bible, and we can never have enough of those! There isn't a wrong way to do this method and you may create your own routine for it. But here is a basic blueprint for how to go about getting started. Consider this the beginner’s guide to Verse mapping or verse mapping in 6 steps. Some days you’ll find you can’t stop filling yourself with His truths, and some days you may only get part way through the process. What have you learned about God’s character? Consider ways you can apply His truths into your life. What new idea or truth did you discover? Are you being led to make changes, claim promises, or heed warnings?

Reading the Bible doesn’t have to be intimating! Bible verse mapping can make the Scriptures come alive and deepen your relationship with God. Before you begin your quiet time, gather your supplies. You’ll likely already have the following things on hand: Zondervan ( @Zondervan) is a world leading Bible publisher and provider of Christian communications. Zondervan, part of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Inc., delivers transformational Christian experiences through its bestselling Bibles, books, curriculum, academic resources, and digital products. The company’s products are sold worldwide and translated into nearly 200 languages. Zondervan offices are located in Grand Rapids, Mich. For additional information, please visit www.zondervan.com. Another Bible study option is to use a topical Bible reading plan. Grab a bundle of my favorite free Bible reading plans here. Next, choose a verse you would like to study in-depth. One of the easiest ways to choose a verse is to just select a verse from the passage you are currently reading. Also look up definitions and root words as needed to gain full understanding of the text. It’s also helpful to look for synonyms and words that have about the same meaning. The Holy Spirit is your teacher and companion in this study; it’s not the what you bring to the table that qualifies you—it’s Who. And He’s going to make sure you learn no matter where you begin. Instead, seek the Lord wholeheartedly to learn and learn to hunger for God’s Word. The more you practice verse mapping or any other Bible study method, the more comfortable you’ll be studying Scripture. Just keep seeking the Lord and He will meet you there! My favorite Bible study templates If you’re not a seminary-trained theologian by education, don’t worry—verse mapping is for anyone with a heart to know the Word of God more. What matters is not how much knowledge you have before you begin but where the experience takes you. What are the Rules? Many words in Hebrew and Greek can be translated by multiple words in English. Looking up the original word can sometimes shed more light on a passage in Scripture. It can help you understand the depth and breadth of the passage. It can also reveal certain themes and undertones that may be lost when the word is translated into English.

Mapping Bible verses isn’t new; it’s been a topic of conversation for years. You’ll find endless examples with a simple online search. And you guessed it—Bible journaling images and methods are popping up all over social media. But what is Verse Mapping * and who’s doing it? And can a few steps really help us understand God’s Word more clearly? There’s no right or wrong way to pursue verse mapping from a structural standpoint, but here is an example pulled from the NIV Verse Mapping Bible: Let the Spirit loose in your heart in this section — God will give you some #WOW #facepalm #mindblown #jawdrop #IlovetheBible #intheWord moments if you let Him!

Look around your home for supplies you already have on hand and keep them in one place for easy access. It is a good idea to read the whole passage and not simply the verse in isolation. What does the whole chapter say? Or what about the verses which come immediately before or after the verse in question? Verse mapping is simply a practical way of dissecting the Bible so you can better understand it. There are many methods for approaching the dissection process. Feel free to u se your supplies as you see fit and do verse mapping as it works best for you. Then, have fun underlining, highlighting, circling, and doodling in a way that God leads you. Choose a verse. What is Verse Mapping? Raise your hand if this sounds vaguely familiar. You read your favorite devotional, read a passage of scripture and say a prayer of thanksgiving to God.
