Make sure to leave at least two vents open if possible, allowing any breeze to provide cross-flow ventilation for maximum circulation.

Using the outside layer and footprint of the tent alone, provides a tarp tent shelter to provide shadow. The low volume of the packed tent is a real bonus when it comes to packing for a trip as it can allow you to choose a smaller and lighter backpack – or simply bring more stuff. The first trip with this tent was the Canadian Superbike race weekend at Shubenacadie, where I stuffed the tent into a Nelson-Rigg tailbag, along with a sleeping bag, sleeping pad and whatever else I needed for the weekend. We’ve picked a lot of faults with the Cloud UP in this review: we’re not too keen on some of the design choices, and the pitching process is not as straight forward as we think it could be. It’s great to see it included as it not only improves durability but also, in our opinion, adds to the value proposition of this tent. I bought this tent for hiking and wild-camping in Scotland, from beaches and loch fronts to mountainous summit or off-summit camps.

Versatility - Versatility scores low in the Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 tent as we see it only for car camping instead of pure camping and hiking due to its limited space. The design of the wind rope fixed in the middle improves the stability and wind resistance of the tent. Stability: If pitched correctly (fin into wind) and taut I have found my version to be very stable, including some howling gale-force winds. The Silicone Nylon construction also makes this tent ideal for snow trekking as the slipperier material allows snow to slide straight off! That said, we absolutely don’t think the Cloud UP is a bad tent and if you don’t, or can’t spend the money on a pricier alternative, we believe it would make a fine companion on the trail. As mentioned above, the tent is asymmetric in form, but there’s no coding that we could see to help correctly orient the frame over the body or the fly over the top.
